Certified illumination technician

The certification as interior illumination technician  (according to ONR 151080) or for exterior illumination (according to ONR 151070).

Who can get certified as an illumination technician?

All persons with a completed training program for  "interior illumination technicians" or "exterior illumination technicians" to a minimum extent of 48 h and based on the contents of ONR 151080 or ONR 151070.

Furthermore, documentation 

  • of  relevant schooling (High School Diploma) or
  • of successfully passing the "examination for the electro technical industry" (or equivalent) or 
  • of employment by a professional electrical or illumination technology enterprise for  a minimum of three years, must be provided.

How to get the certificate

  1. Application for a certification as a "interior illumination technician" or "exterior illumination technician" via application form.
  2. Provision of basic documentation of the qualification to be certified and proof of completing a relevant training program. 
  3. Presentation of an illumination concept developed by the applicant.
  4. Oral examination.
  5. The certificate "ON Certified Person" is issued after passing the exam. 
  6. To maintain the certificate it is required to provide evidence of further education in the field of expertise every second year, to the extent of 12 hours and  according to ONR 151080 or ONR 151070
  7. To renew the certificate's validity after six years, it is necessary to provide evidence of further education programs completed in the last six years and to perform re-certification-interviews with a member of the examination board (AS+C).
